New Packaging or New Product? Splenda with Fiber

Splenda

Spotted Splenda with Fiber in the grocery store, but no online press release. This "Splenda with Fiber" is sucralose mixed with "soluble corn fiber" while the Splenda versions we are used to has maltodextrin and dextrose.

I'm still going to be buying Truvia instead. Sorry Splenda!

You obviously did not read the ingredient panel because this product does not contain maltodextrin or dextrin. It contains a soluble corn fiber.

I'll be happy to check out the ingredients again - but why the hostility? Whether it's a "soluble corn fiber" or maltodextrin (similar thing anyway) - I'm only too thrilled that there is added nutrition.

Maltodextrin is not a soluble dietary fiber. It is a starch that is easily broken down into glucose and digested. It is caloric Soluble corn fiber, on the other hand, isn't digested and is passed through the GI tract. It is basically non-caloric.

Thanks for all the input Gene & "unkown". You're right, a look at the ingredients list reveals "soluble corn fiber." I've updated accordingly. Yeah I should probably give back the degree.

Once again, another unsubstantiated response ("Whether it's a "soluble corn fiber" or maltodextrin (similar thing anyway) - ". This is not hostility, it's just trying to get the facts straight. I would suggest that before you review other products that you research it a little before you form an opinion and publish for others to read. Gene, thanks for providing some facts here.

Sorry for badgering you on this but you still have not corrected the article. The original Splenda Packet contains maltodextrin which is used as a bulking agent to carry the sucralose, similar to every other artificial sweetener on the market, however the NEW Splenda with Fiber product replaces the maltodextrin with a soluble corn fiber giving it a little bit of an an added benefit. Just try to report the facts and not to let your personal opinion get in the way.
