Deer Park Eco-Shape Water Bottle

Deer ParkSpotted: Deer Park "Eco Shape" water bottle. This 1/2 liter bottle is obviously lighter and easier to crumble than it's predecessor. The new hour-glass shape bottle (after all - there is no such thing as the trademarked "eco shape"), is 100% recyclable, made with 30% less plastic than the average half-liter bottle and features a new label that's 30% smaller. Deer Park is part of the Nestle Waters group, which includes Poland Springs, Ice Mountain, Zephyrhills, Deer Park, Arrowhead, Calistoga, Nestle Water and Ozarka. Many of those brands also have this new bottle design.

I like the shape and think it's a step in the right direction for companies trying to reduce their impact on the environment. But not everybody is enamored with this concept. Scream To Be Green reminds us that drinking bottled water - new eco concious bottle or not - will still have a detrimental impact on the environment.

... they're blatantly greenwashing. "Eco-shape." Give me an effing break! ... Open your cabinet, grab a glass, and drink water that came out of your faucet (or Brita or filtered fridge or any other source from your municipality). "But I'm on the go, now what?", you ask. Buy yourself a Sigg (or two or three) or some other non-leaching water bottle.
